Irish history

My research interests lie in Irish history from the Cromwellian period onwards. Aspects of Irish history that I cover in my research include the history of family, local history, urban history, and the landed estate.

I am particularly interested in ego-documents, such as letters and diaries, as sources and the insights they provide into the everyday lives of individuals, their networks and surroundings.

I am fascinated by the application of digital tools and techniques to historical research, and am particularly interested in the role Geographical Information Systems (GIS) can play in helping the historian to make new connections and identify patterns within the data.
